New York City area photograph collection, [ca. 1878-1970], [ca. 1900-1950] (bulk).

Primarily photographs, but also includes some brochures, postcards, booklets pertaining to the history of communities, clippings, broadsides, some negatives filed with prints, and photocopies of photographs. Geographic areas in this collection are the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, aerial views of communities on Long Island and upstate New York, limited material on areas in New York State north of New York City, and one folder of photographs for Virginia, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. Some of the photographs were taken by the Historic American Building Survey, 1937-1940. Eugene L. Armbruster's non-Brooklyn and Queens photographs are filed in this collection. Photographs are identified.

The Hampton Lillibridge House was built in 1796 by Rhode Island native, Hampton Lillibridge in the traditional New England style. The house was originally located at 310 East Bryan Street in Savannah, Georgia, but when it was purchased by antiques dealer, Jim Williams, in 1963 it was moved to its present location at 507 East Julian Street in Savannah, where it is known as one of Savannah's most haunted homes.
